The first time it happened to me I was shocked so I guess I shouldn’t have chuckled when a psychic development student called to ask about ‘seeing people turn into animals’.
I asked her, ” Are you seeing their Spirit or Totem??” “Uhhhh …”, She mumbled. LOL
Now, I’m a very grounded, show me-the-evidence psychic mediumship development teacher. In fact, I’m pretty skeptical. As a Shamanic journeyer and professional psychic medium, my goal is to help students stay true to themselves and not let them go on a wild goose chase during intuitive readings. How to distinguish between true psychic medium messages and their imagination.
If during a practice psychic reading a student says to a ‘client’, “You’ve got a big heart and love to help people” – they get the gong, the buzzer, the stink-eye. They are asked to dig deeper and listen more to spirit to receive specific psychic messages. For example, “You have metal in you leg” or “You aren’t sure what job to take” or “You want to talk to your husband, and he’s telling you that you’re doing a great job with the business that you started together.”
When the student said that she was in line at the grocery shop and the man in front of her changed into a Crow (specifically his head became a Crow’s), it was my job to ensure she saw the truth. It turned out she did! She did! It was also my responsibility to assist her in trying to figure out why these ‘visions” came to her.

Why psychic mediums make people become animals
LOL Perhaps it’s because this is what I write at 5:00 AM, but the title makes me smile. And yet, for those earnestly working on developing their psychic powers it’s a deeply meaningful question that must be answered.
Some psychic mediums who are just starting out have visions from the beginning. However, this can cause people to believe that they are having a psychotic break. It can be frightening and amazing. One of the most common visions psychic mediums could see is people transmuting and shapeshifting into animals. !
While I answer students’ questions , “I don’t really know the reason a psychic medium may see a client change into an animal. However, some of the possible answers are:”
1. It may even be their spirit pet

When we open up to our most authentic psychic medium abilities we become more aware of our connection to all that is. Logically, this means a deeper connection to the animal world – i.e. Spirit, Totem, and Power Animals. You can communicate with animals via or mediumship.
Although ‘Spirit Animal, ‘Totem Animal, and ‘Power Animal’ can be interchangeable terms, we break them down into categories for your learning.
- Spirit Animal – The animal allies and spirit guides who show up to when you need them. They are there to offer support, love, and healing.
- Totem Animal – Who you are inside. It is the animal you offer as a’medicine’ to the world.
- Power Animal– Your inner animal energy. If you need courage you can summon your own Lion energy. You can also summon your Praying Mantis Energy if patience is a problem. To increase your psychic power, you can combine with your Snake energy.

You might see someone transform into an Elephant or Dog by accident . This could be because they are worried about their family. They might have been praying for help from another side . You can see their animal allies.
It is possible that you saw an animal shapeshift happen during a psychic medium . It could be a pet that has crossed over. This could be a friend or family member sending you a message about the client’s nickname. One time, a client asked me if my husband would send the message she wanted. She began crying. She is almost 6ft tall, and her nickname was “Bird”.
Spirit Animals can appear for any and every reason. Simply be open-minded to all possible interpretations.
2. It might be their Totem Animal
As stated above, a Totem Animal refers to who a person is. This assignment of purpose serves only to differentiate between Spirit, Totem, or Power Animals.
If someone is transmuted into their Totem Animal , it could be a sign or an omen that it’s their time to ascend to the seat in their power. They might have always wanted to become a doctor but fear they aren’t smart enough. The animal allies might say, “Go for It!” if you continue to see Frogs or Snakes. We’ve got your back!”
Another example is witnessing someone become a Bee. They might choose to work with environmental issues. This could be research, activism or political.
To be clear totem animals can represent all sides of an animal’s nature. Look at someone to see a scary Shark, vicious Wolf, or scared Rabbit. Don’t be afraid to dive into these psychic waters. They can be very vicious hunters but also possess the playful nature of a Golden Retriever. Is it time for them to get some help for their anger issues? Sharks look terrifying. Is this person a danger to themselves? On one side we don’t really know much about Sharks. So maybe the person that you see needs to get out of their shell and be who they really are. Rabbits can be fierce fighters, but they are still Rabbits. These delicate creatures are unable to defend themselves so if a Rabbit is afraid, it’s time for compassionate conversation and gentle compassion.
3. It Might Be Their Power Animal

Not like seeing someone’s Totem Animal (who they “are”), having their Power Animal come to you can be difficult and possibly confusing. While seeing someone’s Totem Animal can reveal who they are, watching them transform into their Power Animal could be a sign of who they want or need to be in this stage of their lives.
Huh?
Let’s say that you ‘see’ a Tiger coming out of someone’s Solar Plexus area. That person might be looking for a job or a business but doesn’t feel strong enough to go on the hunt. Tiger energy is what they may need. The job search or the search for the right business may be made easier by letting ‘the Tiger within’. It could also be an indicator of their creativity, their solar energy, that the ‘Tiger” was emerging from their Solar Plexus Chakra. It’s important to notice where the animal spirit guides emerge from or enter.
4. A Chakra Might Need Cleansing, Balancing, and/or Healing
It could be similar to the Tiger that appears from someone’s Solar Plexus Chakra. A Snake might emerge from someone’s Root Chakra . This could be due to:
- This is Kundalini awakening.
- The Root Chakra (sex, physical intimacy, fertility) needs cleansing, balancing, and/or healing.
- Snakes are a symbol of Shamanism and healing/healing. Someone may want to be/be a healer/medical professionals and is concerned about passing tests, graduating college, or dealing with a legal matter.
As an evidential psychic medium, I often see Butterflies fly out of folks’ Heart Chakra. This is an indicator that they are waiting to hear from a beloved one.
It can really help understand the symbolic meanings of your psychic visions if you’re well-versed on Chakra Symbols Meanings . If you are familiar with the symbolism, function, and purpose of each Chakra, it will be easier to pinpoint why a particular animal spirit guides is present in that area.
5. Perhaps it’s time to integrate spirit, power, and totem animals into your psychic medium readings
It is a constant amazement to me when students see animal spirit guides. Sometimes, they are visible to their Third Eye. Over the years, students have indicated that they had always believed that animal allies can only be found in Shamanic healing/Shamanic practitioner paths or animal communication or pet psychic paths. These psychic powers and abilities have been classified in different ways by students.
It is logical that should be used in any of the following paths: psychic, animal communicator or pet psychic; intuitive, energy healer; etc. These ‘abilities’ will’strengthen first.
Whatever label you choose, the bottom line is that all these paths and any resulting readings or healings are psychic events. If you feel the time is right to add/remove different types of psychic abilities from your toolbox , can knock on your third eye. It could also be that your higher self is aware of the need to understand and use these type of channeled messages. One example: During a Remote Observing class with Joseph McMoneagle from The Monroe Institute, I kept seeing a yellow and black Bumble Bee with gossamer wings. It turned out that my Remote Viewing target was an old movie theatre’s front. Check out the target photo that was revealed at completion of the exercise. Are you able to see the Bumblebee in yellow and black with its gossamer-like wings?
The rest of the class looked at me like I was ‘one of those’ (GASP) NEW AGER’S when I started talking about how the Spirit Animals were helping me to ‘see’ my Remote Viewing targets. Yeah. But their ridicule did not last very long because my beloved pet continually helped me identify targets. Then everybody wanted to know about Spirit, Totem, and Power Animals. This is why I believe that part of the reason the animal spirit guides kept pushing me to speak about them was so that I could help 15 other seekers see even more possibilities for their psychic abilities.
I believe work in tandem and are forever connected with all that is. Even if your conscious mind is not in the right place, you can still say “OMG!” You can relax and let your mind wander to “OMG!” or “Huh?” Trust. If your sacred contract includes putting attention on psychic abilities and powers then expect your higher self and the Universe to have your back and help you safely journey through all psychic and spiritual awakenings.
More psychic mediums, Shamans and Lightworkers are needed in the world. When the animal spirit guides show up to help, honor them. Honoring your own journey will allow you to develop psychic abilities and power, and make the messages more accurate.
